15 year old with pain in wrists from overuse? Tendonitis?

by Danny
(Hawaii)

I have been climbing for a little over four months now. Mostly in the gym. After the first couple months I started to develop pain in my wrists. I thought it would go away and it was just something temporary. I was climbing 5 days a week, about 3 hours a day. Which I know now was too much. A little over a month ago I moved to Hawaii, and haven't been climbing since I left the mainland. I've been icing and resting a lot. Is there anything I can do to accelerate the healing process? When can I get back into climbing?

Answer
Danny I have never really heard of someone getting wrist pain from climbing. If you have had wrist problems in the past it is probably something from that if not I would recommend consulting with your doctor.
