backup knots for roped solo freeclimbing

what is the best method, or methods for attaching backup knots to my harness? can i attach them to just the waistbelt with locking biners? clove hitches or overhands on a bight?

Answer:

When you are working a route on a rope solo you should not tie back up knots to your harness. Tie in with your normal not or just have one line from the anchor and use a auto-locking belay device. The only time I would tie a backup knot there would be when I am working the route and when I am working some moves or sequences out I would tie an overhand figure eight behind the grigri.
