Climbing Gym

by Andrew
(South Africa)

Hi,

Great Site. Im going climbing this weekend for the first time. You stress all over you site that "safety is my responsibility. I agree with that 100%. My question is, how do i insure that the ropes at the climbing gym i am going to are correctly and safely set up for me, since they are ready for my use.

Answer: All climbing gyms examine and replace ropes on a regular basis. As long as the gym is following procedure you will be fine. Honestly climbing in the gym is the safest place to learn. Since it is your first time I recommend that you take some type of an orientation class, which they should provide for a nominal fee.
