Phildo on Extra Lean, Indian Creek

After driving 26 hours straight from Chicago, a crazy amalgamation of climbers of various abilities and stages of life arrived at Indian Creek, Utah, set for 10 days of splitter crack bliss. This photo was taken on the second to last day, at Second Meat Wall. I was taking photos of another climber in our group, when I heard the all-too familiar scream of Phildo in masochistic distress. I shouldered my camera and jumped down boulders, around the corner and saw the source the volume. Evidently Phildo had decided to 'jump on' a route best described as "maybe finger tips," named Extra Lean. I took a series of photos, but since I had to take just one, I chose this one. 10 days weren't enough, but it is all we had, so we vowed to come back. Six months later, post-hand operation and on a broken ankle, I, along with the crazy crew of men, returned.
