Rock Climbing Chalk Bags, Pots, and Chalk

prana chalk bag, chalk bag Rock climbing chalk bags

What do you need to know?

First it is pretty simple to pick a chalk bag.

Just decide whether or not you want a chalk pot or a chalk bag.

Chalk pots are just big rock climbing chalk bags used by boulders. They stay on the ground while you climb. Usually they come with a brush and most have a pocket that you can store tape and other small items in.

If you are going to be bouldering a lot we recommend a chalk pot.

Really anyone will do, but we use the Revolution and Prana chalk pots.

Now rock climbing chalk bags can be hooked to your belt, pants, or come with a waist strap so that you can chalk as needed while you climb.

Some things to consider are the size of the actual chalk bag. You do not want something really huge but you do want a bag that is easy to get your hand in and out of.

We recommend and use the Prana chalk bag.

It has a great, clean look. The mouth of the bag opens up just enough to get your hand in and out easily without spilling chalk everywhere.

The actual chalk that you use can be loose chalk, a chalk block, or a chalk ball.

Chalk balls work great, the ball will keep your chalk tidly in your chalk bag.

Loose chalk is as great as well. The only problem is if your chalk pot or bag gets knocked over it can spill out.

Chalk blocks are normally just broken up in your chalk bag and mixed with loose chalk.

We like to use a mixture of a chalk ball and some loose chalk.

One last tip..don't make it a big deal just find something that fits your personality.
