UAB Climbing Wall

The indoor UAB climbing wall at the Campus Recreation Center is an Entre-Prises Imprint wall with over 1500 square feet of climbing surface. The wall stands 11m tall and 13m wide. It has 6 top ropes, 2 auto-belays, and 17+ routes. The wall leans out and has several roofs. The lean requires you to develop arm strength to master the more difficult routes.

All necessary equipment such as harnesses and shoes are provided for free. You may bring your own harness and shoes if you like. We do not allow loose chalk. Chalk balls only.

Belaying classes are offered at least once a week, so you and a friend can be certified to climb and belay each other with no wait. Our staff will belay you if you are not certified or don’t have a partner, but this is on a first come first serve basis. The two auto-belays allow you to climb with out a belayer. When you let go of the wall the auto-belay will start letting you down and are only recommended for intermediate and advanced climbers.
